The Pen is mightier than the sword

Emily is ready to take someone down, old-school style....

Author Mason Treadwell (Do we remember him as the crazy pharmacy guy in Deseperate housewives?) is in town reading his book which depicts David Clarke in the worst light. It shows that he is the brains behind the scandal and when it came out it even made little Amanda Clarke believe her daddy was the bad guy.

As flashbacks show us, David Clarke had gone to this man, who was not super famous then to tell the real story. He told about his love affair with Victoria and how they pinned it all on him. Mr. Treadwell then went to interview little Amanda telling her he thought daddy was innocent and would write a tell all that would prove it. She started to trust him, until he turned his back on her. When the author went to confirm the allegations to the Graysons, he of course made a "deal with the devil". He agreed to tell their side of the story if she helped him with his career. Bad move buddy.

Emily goes to a reading of his at the local bookstore with bestie Nolan. I love how they are actually on the same side now. She gets invited to a more private reading over at the Grayson mansion. Nolan then introduces himself and lets the author know he may be in the market for an autobiographer. Intrigued?

Back at home, things are dandy with Em and Danny boy. (And rumor has it they are dating in real life!). He wants to get all of shares from Grayson global along with his trust fund. Daddy agrees to the trust with a few stipulations. He must either turn 30 or get married. Daniel thinks this is brilliant since he loves Em so much and wants to move in with her, but she said she is traditional and needs to be married first. Smooth move. Victoria is horrified by this idea, knowing that she doesn't want Emily to marry into the family. This is probably the first time I have ever seen her crack.

Victoria tells Mason to re-interview now grownup Amanda Clarke or she will make his life miserable. He agrees and so does she. Emily goes to the bar to find her, so she can prep her for her interview. Faux-manda is being a severe wild child. First she asks Jack to take her to Atlantic City and he tells her he needs to tend bar. Then she gets on top of the bar pouring flaming shots and ends up making out with the nearest girl patron. I am sure Jack is thinking that this Amanda is not the same girl he remembers? She also accuses him of being in love with Emily. Well, he is, right?

The interview goes as follows with a small mic and ear piece in Amanda's ear. Emily is feeding her lines and Nolan compares her to Cyrano, minus the huge nose. Faux-manda makes him think that he should really tell the truth now and blow the lid off of this conspiracy theory. As we almost think he is cracking, Victoria threatens him. She tells him that if he wants to be a part of her inner circle he must stay mum. At the book reading, he quickly changes his mind and says that he still believes David Clarke was behind this all and Em's face drops and so does Nolan.

She gave him a chance and he didn't take it, so now its time for revenge. After a visit to Mason's house, she learns that he doesn't make backups or computer files of his work, it is all just written on paper and typewriters. The video tapes are locked in a cabinet near his writing awards. Nolan and Mason head out to dinner as Emily, hooded and gloved, steals the David Clarke tapes, set his manuscript and his house on fire with Amanda's lighterm, framing her, and one of his fancy cigarettes. She walks away as the house flames up and Mason and Nolan pull up in disaster. Nolan says "what a bad girl" as Mason is down on his knees, ruined.

Ashley warns Emily about what she overheard about the marriage proposal. Em doesn't see why she told her, but Ashley walks off grinning. Victoria had told her to say something. She really is climbing the ladder here. There is a small side part about Charlotte and Declan realizing how different they really are when she has to go back to prep school for AP classes and world trips. Jack agrees to take the $500 tips from that night and take Amanda to Atlantic City to gamble and enjoy.

Em views the tapes she stole. One of them is daddy Clarke telling Mason that the affair was real. Here is why he knows. Victoria has a baby girl named Charlotte and he is the father. Em's eyes widen and I cannot believe Charlotte is her half sister. Could this save her humanity?
