I have to say I think this whole search for the "Slutty Pumpkin" is very cute for HIMYM. Every year Ted tries to find this girl in the SP costume and he never does. This year he passes by a window of a costume shop that has the costume inside. He asks the guy at the front if he has a record of every girl who has rented it. (Of course he does), he finds the girl who rented it years ago and goes to her apartment door and rings the bell (forward much?)
We finally see that Naomi aka SP aka Katie Holmes (Hello Dawson's Creek) and Ted are not the great match we thought they were. My questions were, a. why is she still single b. doesn't she think that Ted is a big stalker? Anywho, they are awkward around each other, bad kissers, and just not right. I actually busted out laughing when she sang Barenaked Ladies - chickety China, the Chinese chicken. She looked adorable and sounded great (I still own her single from DC of "On my own", you rock!) My hubby reminds me that all the hot actresses (JLO, Brit, etc) that guest star end up being cray cray, so why not add Holmes to the mix?
She makes him a Hanging Chad costume, reminiscent of the one he wore when they met and she wears her SP costume (glad she had time to rent it again - don't you love when the store owner says the slutty artichoke costume won three proposals?) and they go to the traditional rooftop Halloween party.
Barney is dressed as Mr. American, because he finds out his Grandmother is Canadian and then Robyn (um where is Kevin? and what happened to her hair? She looks dreadful) starts to be Mrs. Canada and her slang, accent and all out annoyningness comes out.
Lily Pad and Marshmallow get offered her grandma's house in the suburbs and because she has pregnancy brain she takes the offer and considers moving. They nix that idea pretty quickly when she offers a stapler, a bottle of wine and a sharp pair of scissors to some local trick or treaters - yikes!
I am really looking forward to one day finding out who poor old Ted ends up settling down with, and to see if his future kids ever change their outfits!
