Hand Bells

The guys are in the living room hanging out. Schmidt has an $80 tray of sushi. I love how he nicknames all the pieces of fish as he offers them up to Nick and Winston. "Fatty Tun". He is by far my favorite character on the show.

Jess walks in with 4 of her students and sets up shop for a hand bell practice. I love how she tells them she wasn't asking for permission but giving them a heads up "things just got SO serious" she says. They start to practice and they don't sound so great. Winston comes over and tries his hands at bells and is a bell genius. The kids and everyone else is in awe. He decides to teach them how to play eye of the tiger for their big performance. He ends up getting a bit too into it and after getting fired from his envelope stuffing temp job, takes it out on the kids and yells at them for their not so up to par performance.

Nick and Schmidt end up getting into a fight about how Nick fixes things. He has this soda bottle in the wall to fix the toilet, uses a roll of quarters to fix the chair and a power drill to fix a huge leak on the roof. Nick begins to break everything that he fixed to show Schmidt that the way he does things is awesome and Schmidt starts to play this game as well by taking back everything he bought, the couch, the rug, and even the freezer. I particularly like when he takes everything out of the freezer, lays it on Nick's bed and Nick's hand is in some dripping goo - ew~! "Repeat after me, you are not the Chinese kid from the Goonies"

There is an underlying meaning to this all, when Schmidt tells Nick that he decided to drop out of law school and do nothing with his life and Winston got too competitive so he had to stop playing basketball. It makes me wonder if both the boys are going to step it up and furthermore how they pay the rent?

In the end, the ensemble group sets up shop and about 3 people and one homeless man go to see them perform. Winston comes to help them play eye of the tiger as Schmidt (in his cardi) and Nick go to watch and mend their ways.

This episode was EH. There was a funny part when Schmidt tried to squeeze his conditioner out of Nick's hair, but I am looking forward to some more Justin Long episodes and to finally see where Nick, Schmidt and Winston go with their lives.
