Awkward: Season Finale

And we are here folks. Jenna has made her decision. I was kind of expecting us to see, but we just see her with Matty. They play spin the bottle and it lands on Matty and she goes into the closet. Jake comes in to say they can stop pretending, he knows they are together and he is fine with it. She is worried about their status, but he says girlfriend and they kiss in public. She sees Jake being a pimp and still has resentment about this. She incites that only a girl like T would be good enough for him. Foreshadowing much?

There is a summer Europe trip and Tamara wants her and Jenna to go. Matty wants her to work at camp with him. She gets called into Val's office where her parents are. She tries to convince them to send her to Europe. Secretly, she does not want to go.

Sadie is going through Ricky's phone and sees that he has been texting Tamara. She acts all weird and calls him and sucks up to him. She is losing the upper hand here and does not know how to take it.

Jenna's parents tell her that they are sending her to Europe. She calls T excited, but it looks like Jake took the last spot. Part of me thinks that maybe Jake and Jenna will get back together in Europe, but that idea is thwarted shortly after. Matty tells her to go, but she wants to stay. She asks her mom what to do and she says to go. Ben never did anything with her and never danced with her and he was not the right guy for her. Where as Kevin did. Tamara throws a huge around the world party.

At the party....

Ming is wasted and wants to give her Vcard to Fred. He jumps out of the bushes and says that Becca has moved his zoning to another school and he can never see her again. They kiss.

Sadie is drunk and complaining to Tamara and Jenna of all people about Ricky. They walk in on him kissing Clark! EW! Is he gay? Tamara says no, he is just a whore. Clark also reveals he is the anonymous friend from Jenna's blog.

Lissa tries to chase Jake, now that she is drunk and wants to hook up with him. He hides in Tamara's car as she is having a breakdown about not going to Europe. He tries to console her and they end up making out. It is great! But, a part of me is like how can T do that? Jenna sees the whole thing and is not mad. Why? She chose Matty.

She tells Tamara she can have her spot in Europe and that she knows about Jake. She sits and watches them dance and has such a fun time. She asks Matty to dance with her, but it is not his thing. Reminds her of the convo with her mom as Matty kisses her, but she is not happy and it is not what she wants.

Awkward: What if?

Not my favorite episode. Jenna decides to see other scenarios by typing them. First she decides that she never slept with Matty and they become boyfriend girlfriend. Everything is great till the power goes to her head and she becomes Sadie's bestie, head cheerleader and a royal BIOTCH. He breaks it off with her for Ming. Oh hell no!

Next she decides to tell Jake the truth and be with him. The sex is horrible for him. We even have a twilight reference between Jacob and Matty, haha. He breaks it off with her and she is devastated. He goes back to Lissa. She pretends she is pregnant, but then becomes pregnant and repeats her mother's life.

Finally she decides she picked nobody and Jake and Matty end up together. In the end she makes her blog private again and realizes she will have to make a choice, not because she has to, but because she wants to.

Season finale next week, who will she choose? I hope Matty!

Awkward: The Choice

Another fab episode of awkward and 2 more weeks until the next. Darn. Let's dig in, shall we?

She's decided to write in a journal, because her blog has been exposed. She catches her mom in the shower with her dad, guess they are working things out. She drops her off at school and people call her btch. She has to tell her mom that everyone knows.

It seems that everyone thinks Jenna is their guru and asking her for advice. They are also copying Tamara's lingo and she is correcting them as she hears them. Sadie gets a huge bump on her lip and assumes it was Ricky giving her herpies. She calls her doctor and finds out its not, but is still pretty upset with him.

The boys still aren't talking to each other even after two popular blonde girls are team Jake and team Matty. They watch a French film and decide to put things behind them. They both admit they are both still in love with Jenna. They tell her she needs to choose and keep ambushing her. They vouch for one another in a cute bromance and she tells them to choose each other.

She confronts her dad and he tells her that he was a monster and it was her mother who soothed her to sleep. She ends up cuddling her mother and singing her favorite lullaby as the episode ends.

Next time, she chooses and I cannot wait! I am team Matty from day numero UNO!

Awkward: Hamilton Homewrecker

Jenna's dad buys her a car, hooptie station wagon. She thinks this is a divorce gift after hearing a message from a girl calling him Kevster on his machine. She relays this to mom and she is less than pleased. Little does Lacey know that Kevin came to the wedding to get her.

She gets the text from Jake with a photo of her and Matty kissing saying "you're a cheater". She needs to tell him that he kissed him after they broke up so not cheating. Tamara tells her to get their think tank on and stop baking drama cakes. LOVE HER LINGO! She tries to get him to talk to her, but he wont. He then tells her "I know everything" and it suddenly dawns on her that she knows about their relationship. She tells Matty, shows him the photo too and he freaks out.

Matty confronts Sadie and she admits to telling Jake, but reminds him that this is not her fault. Matty was the bad friend, and although horrible, she is right. Where is Ricky through this whole episode?

Meanwhile, Ming is getting the cold shoulder from her new boyfriend and the head Asian gave her the wrong cheat sheet and the wrong prescription glasses. She learns later in the sanctuary from Fred that the girl is his ex and explains the difference between a white btch and an Asian one. Asian is sneaky and does things behind your back while white yells in your face.

At the pep rally, Jenna tries to get Jake to talk to her by volunteering to spin the wheel of pep. She gets a truth or dare one, as Lissa is clueless. He asks her to tell the truth and she does and then calls up Matty. He asks them to kiss and they wont. They get into a fight and he punches Matty and then Matty punches Jake out and yells "I fucked your girlfriend". Yikes. They get called into Val's office and she has them talk it out a bit, but Jake is just done. Jenna is there to talk to him, but he wants nothing to do with her even after she says she loves him. Matty realizes that she wants to be with Jake and walks away.

She goes home to blog and cry and her anonymous commenter tells her that people don't hate her and she should let people know about her blog. She makes it public and things get worse. Someone calls her a slut on her new wagon, they call her home wrecker and know about her parents' marriage and fail, and Jake gets made fun of for not getting any. She made it soooo much worse. She walks away and almost gets hit by a bus and Sadie yells that she tried to kill herself again.

Can't wait to see who she chooses!

Awkward: Bring back Matty!

I watched this episode twice to full grasp the amazingness it beholds. Let's begin shall we?

We are still at the wedding and Jake just found out that Jenna and Matty were a couple. He tells her its over without explanation and says their timing is off and leaves. She is distraught and cries. T tries to figure out what went wrong but Jake wont give her a straight answer. Sadie just taunts her a bit more.

Matty is home playing video games with Courtney when Jake calls. He tries to be all secretive and see if Matty admits to it, but he doesn't. This is too much for Matty so he ignores the advances of Courtney to go fix things. Jenna follows Jake out to the car and he makes her get out of the way. He finally listens to her voicemail and realizes she loves him. He made a mistake and he has to fix it.

At the wedding Ali is a complete mess. Lacey is out poolside making out with Ben and Jenna sees this. She calls her dad to come down quick. Kevin finally shows up and Ali shows him Lacey and Ben dancing and tells him to leave. So sad. Then Jenna speaks to Ali about it and she explains that her dad was the one who kept breaking her heart not Ben. So I guess she compares Kevin to Matty and Jake to Ben. Val gives the speech after shooing away the best man and his enchiladas speech. While Sadie is trying to get Ali to drink more Val tries to stop it, but then gives in when Ali says let's crop you out of pics. A little boy like Ricky likes T and hits on her. Ricky asks her to dance but she says no and dances with little Ricky instead.

Back at Jenna's after she walks home and starts undressing and undoing her hair in the street, there is a knock at the window. It's Matty. He tries to console her about her breakup with Jake. Problem is, they are sitting too close together on the bed and she tells him he is wonderful. Such a touching moment. He then tells her maybe the timing is right. And just on cue like any other movie, they kiss and Jake watches the whole thing from her door.

Awkward: Ali's Wedding

Another amazing episode. I actually watched it twice just to soak it all in. Let's dig in shall we?

Ali is a bridezilla. She takes the girls to get their dresses. Sadie, a pregnant lady about to pop, Lacey as MOH and Jenna as the flower bitch (I love it!) and they have pretty peach dresses. Jenna's dress however is fuchsia with puffy sleeves. She has to carry a flower basket too.

While getting ready, Ali is on a juice cleanse, she reminds Lacey that Kevin is not coming. But Ben (her mother's Matty) is and he is still interested. Jenna is not happy about this at all. She starts not to find her flower basket and Ali freaks out on the wedding planner, causing her assistant to quit. Tamara is there to help. Ben shows up (Kristopher P. from Ringer, another ringer alum on this show!) they reminisce and he is hot. Jenna has to be back in the wedding, she finds the basket, asks Tamara to be the new assistant and is back in. The pregnant one goes into labor and Val is the sub bridesmaid and she is happy about it.

Jake is borrowing a suit from Matty. Matty says its his unlucky suit after formal. He gets a call from Courtney and he tells Jake he is going to spend the night with her. At the wedding, Ali wants their hair in princess Leia buns. Sadie refuses, but bridezilla makes her. Jenna goes to see Matty since he has Jake's suit. They talk about how they have moved on and how they are happy for one another but how it still stings. Sweetest part ever. Jake shows up.

Cue the wedding. Ben and Lacey keep flirting. Jenna tells him to back off that he had his chance and its over. Val tries to keep him busy. Sadie is all over Ricky and Tamara is having a tough time. Jenna tells Sadie to back off that Ricky will probably cheat on her too. She confronts Ricky and he says he loves her and she makes Tamara hear this. Jake sees her in tears and tells Sadie to cool it. She tells him that he better go back to his besties sloppy seconds and he is confused. "What you didn't know?" she bates him. She tells him how Matty is the one that was with Jenna first and walks away. He flashes back to all the moments where it had to be Jenna and Matty. Just then Jenna is leaving him a voicemail saying she loves him. Little does she know that he knows about her and Matty.

Amazing.

Awkward: Shall we have sex?

Love love love this show. Seriously. Ok, let's begin shall we?

Jenna is deciding what she should do about Jake saying I love you and her saying awesome. Tamara asks her when she knew with Matty and she says after they had sex, which was like episode 1 people. She even still has Jenna loves MM on her notebook. Jake even tells Matty he told Jenna he loved her and Matty talks about how he cannot take it back now and maybe he doesn't love her. They are doing the morning chat over the PA system. Jenna comes in to tell Jake she wants to have sex, but of course, awkwardly, does it over the loud speaker so everyone can hear.

Meanwhile, Sadie is having secret make outs with Ricki Schwartz. He wants to make it official, but she says he is a band geek. He even quits band for her and tells her that she is amazing and calls her dollface. She fights it, but we know she is interested. We have never seen a soft side to Sadie before.

Jenna and Jake come home to do it at her house, but looks like mom's bff Ali is there. She just got engaged to someone super rich who she doesn't love. Mom, Ali and Val are having drinks. Jake leaves and they plan to do it another day. We find out quickly that the man Ali is marrying is Sadie's uncle. She comes to pick her up and Ali hates and loves Sadie, as I knew she would. After hearing the drunk women rant about love and sex, Sadie calls Ricki and tells him she might not have dinner with him, but he can call her later.

Finally, Jenna gives in and tells Jake they can do it. In his mini-van? He sets up the back with candles, flowers, and blankets to be special. She may think being with Jake is the right thing, but we all know she loves Matty and is fighting getting hurt again.

Excited for next week? I am! Sadie finally tells Jake what happened with Jenna and Matty and sparks are sure to fly.

Awkward: Valentine's Day Surprise

What a great episode... let's begin shall we?

This is the first year her dad is not her only Valentine. Matty comes up to her and asks her questions about Vday options. She assumes he is asking for Jake and tells him she likes tulips and her favorite restaurant and things. She then sees him talking to this blonde freshman and asks Ming and Tamara if she is cute and they say yes. Love the honesty.

Ming is going to the black hearts party and T says she wants to go. Ming says she shouldn't, because the Asians said that Ricky Schwartz will be there with the girl he loves. She says she is going there. While they are there, Ming meets a cute Asian guy, they snap a photo together and make out. Tamara has to go to the bathroom so bad, she cuts the line. She opens the door to find Ricky making out with WHO? Sadie. She is so upset, she just pees right there. Yikes. Poor T. Ming and her leave and leave the hot guy.

Jake gives her a cute little stuffed animal. He takes her to her favorite restaurant and gives her calla Lillis, which mean strong. So cute. When they get there, Matty and the freshman are at the next table. Yikes. It starts off fine, where they ignore them. Then Matty eats of Jenna's plate, his date asks for her napkin, Matty and Jake get into a heated debate about sports. Matty also know she is allergic to certian foods and Jake did not. Its all downhill from here. But Jenna knows that Matty will be secret with her and drops her fork, goes to get it and sees them holding hands under the table, she lifts her head up and whacks it. Matty puts ice on her head and then Jake comes with some. Matty tells her he doesn't want to mess it up like he did with her. He is trying to make her jealous. She kisses Jake and realizes she has the better guy.

Jake tells her he loves her and she realizes that nothing matters until then. Her dad left her a stuffed animal at the door, her mom is so upset, she gives it to her and pretends its from dad.

Awkward: Church Camp

Jenna agrees to go to church with her mother. Her mother shows off her boobs and puts mints in the donation cup. Horrible, lol. Jenna is feeling low and lost so when she sees Lissa, she agrees to go on a church retreat with her. Sadie is pissed that Lissa and her have not yet reconciled and Lissa tells her she should go too, if she was a real friend.

Tamara of course, tries to get Jenna not to go with her funny speech. But she has her own problem. The same guy who tortured Jenna with "Jenna Lives" has a new slogan. "Take it outside". T thinks it is about her and her fight with Ricky Schwartz.

Val of course takes this thought of her parents being divorced as a way to meet her dad since he is cute and single. She ends up at a restaurant where Jenna's mom is about to dine alone and they sit next to each other and try to get Lacey to dine alone. Gotta love Val.

Before she heads off Jenna is at a lunch discussion with Jake and Matty about the girl who broke Matty's heart. They are talking about her in third person and she feels bad that Matty is so torn up about her. What I feel bad for is Jake, who is going to get SO hurt when he finds out the truth. How can she let it go on this long?

On the bus, Jenna spots Sadie and tries to leave but it doesn't work. Once there, Sadie is mean to her, but Lissa intervenes. She finds Clarke, the gay guy, who helps her through camp until he has an errand to do. They are in a trust circle sharing feelings when Sadie outs her for trying to kill herself. She tries to set them straight but Sadie is relentless as always. She screams I love Satan to get kicked out. Lissa follows her and they actually make up. Jenna tells her she is a good person.

Jenna goes home to blog about it and anonymous writes her. She writes "who are you?" and they write "not god". Who is that?

Also she sees Matty at school and tells him she is sorry for hurting him. She then sees him flirting with some girl and smelling his armpits and is mad all over again. I guess you cant be friends with an ex.

Awkward: Three's a Crowd

Matty is trying every which way to get in to Jenna and Jake's relationship. He touches her leg during games, he takes his shirt off during video games and he sits in the front of the car. After speaking to Tamara she thinks that maybe he is trying to sabotage her relationship. She then decides to rub it in his face by being extra touchy with Jake. That makes Matty upset and Jake has a talking with her. This is the point where as Jenna, I would feel bad lying to my boyfriend that I have not slept with his best friend previously. It is just going to blow up in her face. She confronts Matty and he says that he was there first. This gets Jenna to back off and let Matty and Jake have some friend time.

Val who is now VP is doing a 5K run/walk bully run. Anyone who is being a bully, she slaps a B on them and they have to petition other people to walk. First is Sadie, of course. She is covered in Bs. Tamara is on the dance squad in these tight blue uniforms and when she sees Ricky kissing someone she gets a B slapped on her as well. She has some really funny lingo with people about her uniform clinging to her junk. She also meets with Sadie who tries to tell her how to get Ricky upset. It backfires and Ricky is more popular than ever.

So we left off with Lacey telling Kevin about the letter. Turns out this made him leave. Jenna is really upset about it. Lacey buys a hot tub and tries to tempt him with skin, but that doesn't work. Jenna invites Jake over and Matty invites himself and they are all three in the hot tub. AWKWARD - so aptly named. They ask if someone peed and they didn't. Dad sneaks in and he gets mad about the tub, so he jumps in as well and says he peed. GO DAD. loved it!

At the walk, Val fires the new guidance counselor for wearing hooker heels. Love Val. Jenna does the walk and so does her mother. Her mother says that she is sorry for the letter and dad has left. They hold hands and possibly reconcile.

Sadie sees Matty and congratulates him on sabotaging. He winks and she knows he really was.

Love love love this show, don't you? But Jenna needs to take her hair out of a ponytail and did anyone else notice she gained some weight in her face?

Awkward: Sanctuary Scandal

I heart this show. Jenna has dinner with her parents and her mom makes all her favorite things. She tells her mom that either she tells dad or she will about the letter. Mom makes up some story about a perm and lets it go.

We cut to school where Jenna and Jake are bf/gf and holding hands. She finds out that there has been a camera recording on the sanctuary and everyone is freaking out. Her especially because it may have taped her sex with Matty. Her and Matty have a talk about it and Jake and Matty have a talk about the guy who Jenna lost her vcard too. We find out that Matty lost his to Jenna as well. He also finds out that Jenna loved him. He tells Jenna he loves her but gets shooed away by Jake. She is really mean to Matty and tells him that she felt ignored and used by him. I feel bad for Matty.

Jenna asks Ming to make friends with the Asians, since they will have an idea about getting the tape. She does and the head Asian, Becca gives her sushi and knows her full Chinese name. She knows all. "Are you a cool Asian or school Asian? You are actually white with the round eyes!" She actually orchestrates the footage to get to the guidance counselor. She can use this as blackmail so the VP steps down and she takes his role. Go Val! The Asians were mad at him for taking away parking.

Jenna and Matty are not on the tape so she goes back to loving Jake and tells him so. She tells her mom she wont tell dad about the letter. But in the end, the mom does. Yikes.

Awkward: Season 2 Premiere

I am so excited this show is back! This show is truly a gem and really well written. It is about sophomore Jenna Hamilton (Ashley Rickards) who is a bit of a loser. She falls in love with class hottie Matty McKibben and has sex with him on the last day of summer camp. When she gets home, she gets an anonymous note (carefrontation) saying how she sucks and the reasons why. She is upset, takes Tylenol, but spills the bottle and slips in the tub with the hairdryer. She breaks her arm and everyone thinks she tried to commit suicide. Hilarity ensues. Her mother was a teenage mom and is always trying to make her into something she is not. Matty wants her but wants it a secret. Her best friend Tamara, who is hysterical, is in love with band geek Ricky Schwartz. Her other best friend Asian Ming, is never allowed out of her house. In season one, she goes through changes and checks off things on the list. She battles mean girl Sadie Saxton (You're welcome) and Lissa (god faring cheerleader) and ends up also liking Matty's BFF Jake Rosati. Her guidance counselor Val wants to be her bestie and is dating another teacher. She also writes this anonymous blog throughout the whole thing. What I love about Jenna is she keeps on ticking no matter what hits her. The lines are creative, the lingo is fresh and the characters are relatable and the boys are hotties! Amazing show, just pure enjoyment.

In the last season, we end at the spring formal. Jenna is going with Jake, because Matty was too scared to ask her. Sadie was not allowed in, so asked Lissa to sneak her in, but Lissa betrays her. Tamara and Ricky find each other and Jenna says no to Matty and is with Jake. She gets home and finds the stationary the carefrontation was written on is her mother's. She wrote the note.

Season 2 premiere....

Jenna is dating Jake now and he formally asks her online to be his girlfriend, she contemplates it. It's Christmas Eve and her mother gives her a diamond necklace with a note saying "this is who you are" and her father, true to form, gives her a box of condoms. She goes to blog and finds out that some anonymous left a comment on her blog. She makes it private again.

It's New Year's Eve and she is off with Jake, Tamara and Ming to a party at Matty's house, awkward! When she shows up, they shake, hug, weirdly say hello. Tamara spots Ricky there, when he says he was supposed to be at his grandma's. She slaps him. Ming has to be picked up at midnight. Lissa is trying to repent for her sins and asks Jenna to slap her. Val is outside crying in her car and calls Jenna.

Jenna goes to help Matty with the drinks and he tells her they are not over. He wants another chance. He will tell Jake he had her first and all will be well. Catch? Meet him back there at midnight or meet Jake for the kiss and accept his public request.

She chooses Jake and kisses him. Matty is distraught and drinks himself into oblivion. Sadie comes to speak to him but blows up when he wants advice. She admits she loves him and they make out, weird and gross! He falls asleep in the middle. Tamara is still mad at Ricky, but talks to his grandma and gives him another chance. Sadie is so befuddled she makes out with Ricky in the interim and says her classic tagline "You're welcome".

She goes home and accepts the relationship request. She is Jake's girl now. She goes home and writes a letter on the stationary and gives it to her mother. It says "This is who YOU are" and her mother freaks. BURN. Good job Jenna!

So excited to see more of this show and willing to watch it again and again!!

One Season Wonders

Ever have a favorite show that only makes it to one season? I had a bunch along the way. This DVR Junkie tries most shows out. Here a few of my favorite that I wish would come back! (Also a bunch of crossover stars!)

Swans Crossing 

1992. Displaying the lives of wealthy teenagers. Featuring Buffy and Ringer's own Sarah Michelle Gellar as the main star, the mayor's daughter. (See how early I loved her?)

My So-Called Life

1994. Best season ever. I own this box set and have watched it a few times. Following the lives of middle class Angela and bad girl Ray-anne with maybe gay Ricky, loving Jordan Catalano. Swoon. How could you not watch this? The only crossover star was Brian (Devon Gummersall) who played a bit part on Felicity.

North Shore

2004. Local Hawaiian hotel where scandals take place. Melrose Place meets Hawaii. Thought this show was going far, but I guess not. Fox cancelled it. This has crossover stars galore! We have Kristoffer Polaha (Ringer's Henry), Brooke Burns (From Pepper Dennis), James Remar (From Sex and the city), Shannon Doherty (Beverly Hills 90210's alum Brenda as well as Charmed) and Nikki Deloach (the mother on awkward)

Reunion

2005. Another fox show cancelled. About 6 friends coming together for their 20th high-school reunion. One of them was murdered and they need to backtrack to figure out who. It never ended, so I never found out! Bummer. However, a few key crossovers. Dave Annabelle (from Brothers & Sisters) and Chyler Leigh (Lexie Grey from Grey's Anatomy)
